Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
An Employee Assistance Program is a benefit that employers offer to their employees and their dependents. EASE offers free, confidential counseling, child care and elder care advocacy, management training and consultation, and more.

Who can use the EAP?
If your employer is a client of EASE, all employees and their immediate family members are eligible to use the EAP service. In special cases other dependent family members may also be eligible.

How do I contact EASE?
You can call EASE and speak to a licensed counselor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The counselor will determine your needs and schedule an appointment for you in your community.

Who are the counselors?
All EASE counselors have earned a masters degree or doctorate in counseling.

How often can I use the EAP?
Depending on your employer's plan, you may see a counselor 3-5 times per year per issue.

Will my employer know I contacted EASE?
No. Your employer will not know you contacted EASE. Your confidentiality is a key component of assisting you.

EASE is a company completely separate from your employer. EASE company policy and federal law protect your confidentiality. Your personal information and details of any personal problems will not go beyond EASE. Private conversations with EASE are not shared with supervisors, and EASE records are kept completely separate from personnel records. These records are protected by the EAP's confidentiality policy and by federal law, and are not released without the employee's expressed, written permission.

What does it cost if I use EASE services?
If your employer provides you with EAP services through EASE, then EASE services are free to you and your family members. If you or your dependents are referred to another professional or community resource, such as a drug treatment program, there may be a fee for you to use those services. In many cases, your insurance plan covers such fees. If a referral is necessary, the counselor will work to refer you to the most affordable community resource.

Are your counselors close to me?
Yes. We know that you are busy and need services nearby. EASE has several counselors in all areas where we have clients.

How soon can I get help?
You can speak with someone immediately by calling 1-800-654-9778. The counselor who answers the phone will help you with immediate concerns and will schedule an appointment for you to see a counselor in your community within 24 hours.

Can my family use EASE services?
Yes. Often, it takes more than one person to solve a problem. Your dependents and certain other family members can use EASE services at no charge.

What's the difference between EASE and EAP?
EASE (Employee Assistance Services Enterprises) is the name of the company that provides the EAP (Employee Assistance Program.) In many cases on this Web site, the names are interchangeable.
